Proud of my Nestani heritage!!!!
My father Nicholas Borovilos left Nestani for Utah to join his father and work on the railroad at the ripe old age of 13 years!

He moved to Montreal, Canada and started is family with Litsa Athanasiou and brought into the world 5 children of which Den (84years of age) and I remain living.

My Mom and Dad sponsored the Costa Bourantanis family immigration to Canada starting in 1952 all from Nestani. My father was self-employed all his life and practiced the Greek Orthodox faith and imparted his belief and good Christian practices to his family.

Nestani Letsos\'

This is a wonderful website! I love the pictures of Nestani. I've never had the chance to visit there but hopefully one of these days. My grandfather, Alexios Letsos was born in Nestani (Tsipiana) back in 1889. He passed away a very long time ago. He never said much about Nestani except that his mother, father and sisters still lived there. Is there anyone that knows anything about the Letsos families in Nestani? I'd love to find our family there if at all possible. Thank you for a wonderful site!

What a fabulous website..both my parents are from Nestani. My mum (Dimitra Karalis) is remembered as being the 'nosokoma yia to xorio' before she migrated to Sydney, Australia. My dad (Andronicos Kontogiorgas - aka Kontos) left Nestani when he was about 18 years old and went to Athens before migrating to Sydney, Australia.

Thank you for bridging past and present
My father, Anastasios Mantas, was born in Tsipiana in 1915 and never let us forget it. He was quite active in the Tsipianiton and Pan-Arcadian societies throughout the 50s - 80s until he and my mother moved to Florida, where they still live today. I was lucky enough to spend a month there in the mid 80s while I visited and cared for my Thia Katerina. I also remember spending a few months there as a young child in 1962, when water only ran a few hours a day and so did the lights, and riding the gaithouri with Yiayia Angelo sto kalivi at Stravomiti, wherever that was.

I recognize so many of the names in the gallery as friends and family. Thanks for the memories - and especially the exquisite 'klarinia'.

Hello from Australia. My name is Victor Papadakis and I was born in Nestani along with my 5 siblings, George, Peter, Vicky, Eva and Nicky. Having left Nestani many years ago, it was both emotional and overwhelming visiting 'home' a few years ago. This web site is a wonderful link for many to reconnect with our heritage and I encourage everyone to post photos and provide updates to stay connected. Two of my children have been fortunate to visit Nestani and loved not only the scenery but all the kindness and care shown. We aim to visit again! Fantastic website -Love to all Victor (Panagiotis)

Hey everyone my father showed my brother and I this website dedicated to Nestani. Our grandfather was born there in 1932. His name is Costa Bourantanis, and he lives in Montreal, Canada. He is married, he has two sons, three grandsons, and one grand-daughter. He has also been in the restaurant business for over 45 years. The restaurant he owned was called Bouras Deli. Thank you to the people who made this website. The history of Nestani and photos are absolutely beautiful. Take care everyone and Happy New Year.

How Sweet the Sound of BOUZOOKI
As soon as I clicked on your website, I was immediately reminded of the precious moments when our dad, Demetrios (Michos) Christos Karones would describe the wonderment of being from Nestani, the importance of a solid education and the necessity of prayer and gratitude in life.
Our father may be gone, but this tribute of our roots lives on! What a treasure.....
A thousand thank yous for helping us re-live those blessings. My father Demetrios, Yiayia Maria (Panagakis) Karones and Pappou Christos Karones would be OVER-JOYED!
The feeling of home (and LOVE) lives on.

Wow - what a beautiful tribute to our village. Thank you for creating such a lovely and thorough website.

My father was Theodosios Kottaras - he and my mother, Eleanor, owned Dyner's Resaurant on Grand and State from 1972-1989. My father passed away in 1993. My mom and I are both living in Los Angeles now. My husband Matthew and I have a daughter, Madeline Thea (named to honor my father). I hope she will grow up to be as proud of her roots and her village as I am. She will always know where she came from and how her grandfather struggled to achieve success for her future.
